Whitley Bay Rockcliff RFC has adopted a new code of conduct. It reflects the Rugby Football Union’s commitment to the ongoing promotion of the welfare of all participants in the sport, including children, young people and all adults, including those at risk. All participants are entitled to feel safe and protected from any form of abuse or neglect and have the right to take part in a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment.
At it’s heart, the Code of Conduct builds on rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship are important, both for children in rugby and all the adults they meet, who we hope will serve as role models providing a positive experience.
The code sets out how we expect people involved at Rockcliff to behave, and provides example of behaviour that is unacceptable. Importantly, it applies to everyone invovled including:
- holds a role with the club, whether that is paid or unpaid;
- or is responsible for the care and supervision of a child or adult at risk who attends the club; or
- is involved with the club through a social aspect, such as a customer, member or spectator; or
- attends any club activity, whether that be on club premises or not, including spectating home and away matches.
